Multi-Platform Trend Finder Guide

Our Trend Finder combines live API data from platforms with client-side CORS support (Wikipedia Pageviews API, YouTube via Invidious API, Reddit, Hacker News, and GitHub) with a smart trend estimation engine for platforms where live data is not available client-side (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, Bing, Baidu, Yahoo). The estimation engine uses current date, season, day of week, and a curated database of 500+ trend templates and 300+ keywords across 12 categories to generate relevant trend suggestions that change daily.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: How does the Trend Finder get data without API keys?
A: Wikipedia (Wikimedia REST API), Reddit, Hacker News (Firebase), and GitHub provide public JSON APIs with CORS headers enabled for client-side fetch requests. YouTube data is accessed through Invidious API instances which cache YouTube data and expose CORS-friendly endpoints. Twitter/X trends are fetched from Nitter open source frontends (privacy-respecting Twitter interfaces). Google Trends data is accessed via their RSS feed which provides daily trending search topics.
Q: Is the Wikipedia data real?
A: Yes! Wikipedia pageview data comes directly from the Wikimedia REST API and shows the most-viewed articles on English Wikipedia. This is a great proxy for what people are searching and reading about globally, similar to Google Trends.
Q: Is the YouTube data real?
A: Yes! YouTube trending data is fetched from Invidious API instances, which are open-source YouTube frontends that cache and serve YouTube's public data. The data reflects currently trending videos across all categories. You can select a region from the dropdown to see trends from different countries.
Q: Why are Instagram/TikTok/Bing/Baidu/Yahoo trends estimated?
A: These platforms do not set CORS headers on their APIs, which means browser-based JavaScript cannot fetch data from them. Our trend estimation engine generates relevant suggestions based on current date, season, and hundreds of curated trend templates and keywords across 12 categories.
Q: How often do the trends update?
A: Live data (Wikipedia, YouTube, Reddit, HN, GitHub) refreshes every time you click "Refresh All Trends" or reload the page. Wikipedia data is typically 1 day behind due to their processing pipeline. Estimated trends change daily based on the current date seed.
Q: Can I use these trends for content creation?
A: Yes! The Trend Finder is designed specifically for content creators, marketers, and journalists. Use it to discover content ideas, find trending topics for your niche, identify viral-worthy subjects, and plan your content calendar across multiple platforms.
Q: What categories do the trends cover?
A: Our database covers 12 categories: Technology, Entertainment, Sports, Politics, Health & Wellness, Fashion & Beauty, Food & Travel, Finance & Business, Education & Science, Music, Gaming, and Lifestyle. Each platform gets trends relevant to its audience.
